Duration:
The Advanced Open Water Diver course is usually conducted over six days and includes 11 dives and at least 48 hours of instruction, encompassing classroom, land drills, and in-water work.
Prerequisites:
- Have passed the GUE Open Water (Recreational Diver 1), GUE Performance Diver, or a GUE Fundamentals course.
- Have completed at least 15 non-training dives.
- Have completed basic life support (BLS) training from a recognized training agency within the twenty-four months prior to the start of the class.
- If using doubles during the course, have conducted at least 15 non-training dives in the GUE double tank configuration or have conducted 10 dives utilizing doubles following completion of GUE Doubles Primer certification.
- If using a drysuit during the course, have conducted at least 15 non-training dives in a drysuit or have conducted 10 non-training dives utilizing a drysuit following completion of GUE Drysuit Primer certification.
Diving Expenses:
The below prices are approximate estimates and will be paid directly to the corresponding operators:
- Course Registration on GUE’s website: 95 USD
- Nitrox fees: 30 CAD per tank
- Boat dives: TBC
- Hotel fees: When applicable where travel is required – shared among all students.
Additional Expenses to be aware of:
- Students are responsible for arranging hotel accommodation for the instructor in case the course requires an overnight stay, which is the case when done over a weekend outside of Toronto.
- Boat trip fees.
- Classroom booking fees if applicable.
